Hyderabad 13th July 2014: Telangana Ashadha maasa Bonalu at Secunderabad Kick started on a grand note today amid traditionally attired women with Bonam on their heads stood in long queues patiently for their turn for the darshan of the presiding deity of Ujjain Mahankali Temple. Devotees from various parts of the state have thronged at the temple from 6 am in the morning and form a beeline queue.

VIPs Attend Bonalu :
A number of VIPs, including the Chief Minister of Telangana KCR,CM of A.P N. Chandrababu Naidu, Secunderabad M.P Bandaru Dattatreya, MLA T. Srinivas Yadav, Telangana Ministers Nayini Narasimha Reddy,Padma Rao,Etela Rajender have paid a visit for the Darshan.

Babu said, He has prayed the deity for a bountiful rainfall this year and Telugu People from both the states should move ahead for better prospects in the near future.
Home Minister of Telangana –Nayini Narasimha Reddy:
We prayed the presiding deity for Separate state for Telangana last year and  the same has been fulfilled.People believe the deity as the powerful one who showers her blessing to make their dreams come true.
He made some funny Comments “Ishtamunnatha Tintaru and Istamunnatha Thagutharu” on Bonalu day to make all belated and laugh.

The administration made elaborate arrangements like putting up barricades, first-aid stalls and provision for drinking water. A strong posse of police was on bandobust, monitored by the Commissioner, Maheder Reddy.

HYDERABAD: Newly formed Telangana State Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao conveyed his greetings to Muslims & Hindus of Telangana and across the world for their Ramzan and Bonalu festival which have commenced from Sunday ( Bonalu) and Monday (Ramzan).In His Message CM stated that all necessary measures were taken for Power, water supply during the holy month of Ramzan.He also said Bonalu has been declared as state festival of Telangana.

Hyderabad : Bonalu is a state festival now in telangana.Its official now with the GO of  Principal Secretary-Endowments B. Venkateswara Rao asking Commissioner-Endowments and other related departments to look into necessary arrangements for the festival i.e  supply of drinking water, sanitation and electricity,Road patch works etc.

Hyderabad 16th July 2014: The Telangana Ashadamaasa Bonalu, and the Batukamma festivals declared state festivals in Telangana. By the ruling TRS Government.Both these festivals reflect the Telangana Tradition and culture.The demand to announce them as State festival is pending since long in united Andhra Pradesh and representations were submitted for the same earlier.The lukewarm response from the previous governments made the decision keep in delay.The Telangana government will officially fund these festivals now and CM has directed the officials to over see arrangements for the forthcoming Bonalu festivals which will kick start on 29th June and continue till 21st July.Lashkar Bonalu will be celebrated on 13th July followed by Rangam the very next day while Old city will go for Bonalu on 20th July.

Lashkar (Secunderabad) Bonalu 2014 festivities will kick start from June 29th with Ghatala edurkollu procession.The main festival of offering bonams to the presiding deity Mahnakali in Ujjain mahankali temple will be on 13th July and Rangam ritual follows the next day. Temple is undergoing for a facelift and special arrangements in the temple premises will be taken up by the govt officials.

Old city Bonalu will kick start the very next week after lashkar festivities concludes on 14th July.Old city Bonalu festivities will start with Ghatalu edurkollu on 13th July and the main festival is on 20th July 2014.

Hyderabad: Telangana Ashadhamasa Bonalu, Mahakali Jatara is one of the biggest cultural festivities (falls in the month of July - August (In Ashadha Masam) )celebrated every year with much traditional fervor in the city of Hyderabad.Bonalu festival 2014 will kick start on 29th June 2014 in City of Hyderabad.Bonalu means Bhojanam  offered to goddess Mahakali (The Goddess of Power.Bonam is made up of cooked rice with Curd,Jaggery,sugar.Bonam placed in an earthen pot which is decorated with Turmeric ,vermilion,white chalk and Neem tree leaves and a lamp is being placed on it.Women keep these Bonams on their heads and go to temple amid dancing by people with band sounds


Even though Bonalu Mahakali Jatara is celebrated in nook and corner of the region of Telengana ,The major and mass process of Mahankali takes places in Hyderabad where in as many as some 10-20 lakhs people from across India participate in it.
Bonalu festival & Mahakali Jatara takes place in two phases in Hyderabad.Bonalu festival celebrations kick start with Ujjain Mahankali temple of Secunderabad first and old city of Hyderabad takes the cue the very next week.Bonalu falls on Sunday following farewell of the event i.e Rangam etc on Monday.

Laldarwaza Mahankali Temple,Akkanna Madanna Temple, Gowlipura Bharat Mata Temple,Sultanshahi Jagadamba temple, Shalibanda Mutyalamma Temple, Mir-Alam Mandi Mahankali Temple,Uppuguda, Aliabad Mahankali temple are the main temples in Old city where the Bonalu festival takes place with much traditional fervor.All areas in old city look much vibrant with telangana style songs,Dances of Potha rajulu,Ghatam Procession etc.
